Do You Need a Quick and Easy Side Dish? This Sweet and Creamy Coleslaw Takes 15 Minutes to Make!
It’s Labor Day weekend, and we’re making salads and dishes for our get-togethers. We always have coleslaw on our holiday menu. In the past, we’ve always followed a recipe that’s similar to our go-to fried chicken restaurant’s coleslaw. I liked it, but I kept wishing for more creaminess. We searched and found a recipe similar to what I’m sharing here. After a few adjustments, we had our new favorite Sweet and Creamy Coleslaw recipe!
If you don’t have much time and need a side dish for a party or gathering, you’ll love how quickly this comes together. You can chop the vegetables using a food processor or blender. We ordered the same processor many TV cooking chefs use, the Cuisinart Food Processor 14-Cup Vegetable Chopper. It works great! You can order a blade and disc holder plus additional accessories.
Here’s the best coleslaw recipe I’ve tried:
Sweet and Creamy Coleslaw
Equipment
- 1 Food Processor We ordered the model frequently shown on the cooking channels, the Cuisinart Food Processor 14-Cup Vegetable Chopper, DFP-14BCNY
Ingredients
- 1 head cabbage finely chopped
- 1 cup baby carrots finely chopped
- 1 cup mayonnaise We like Hellmann's Real Mayonnaise
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 4 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp dry mustard
- 1/2 tsp celery salt
Instructions
- Finely chop the cabbage and baby carrots in a food processor.
- Drain as much moisture as possible from the chopped cabbage and carrots by placing them into a strainer, placing a few layers of paper towels on top, and then placing something heavy on it.
- While the vegetables are drying, mix the remaining ingredients. Once the vegetables are dry, add them to the liquid mixture and stir.
- Refrigerate for at least three hours before serving.
