What is Orange Chicken?
This is a dish frequently served in Chinese restaurants. It’s made from boneless, skinless chicken pieces. When prepared, the chicken is fried before being coated in a sweet, tangy orange-flavored sauce. You can serve it over rice, broccoli, or whatever you like.
How is Crockpot Orange Chicken Different?
I’m trying to eat less deep-fried food and find healthier alternatives, so I liked the idea of not deep-frying the chicken before putting together this dish. I researched and found people were making orange chicken in the crockpot, with no deep-frying involved! I knew we’d want more sauce because we serve this dish over rice, so I modified the recipe to include plenty of sauce.
Here’s an easy recipe for starting a meal quickly in your crockpot in the morning. I love recipes that don’t require pre-cooking of ingredients. This is a tasty recipe for making orange chicken in a slow cooker.
