Hi, I’m Cindy! Welcome to Save Money Fever!

Save Money Fever has been a plan of mine for a long time. Before I talk about who I am, let’s think about who you are and the challenges you may be facing.

Then you’ve found the right place at Save Money Fever! Here’s why: I grew up with incredible role models who knew how to make the money they had work for them. My parents had a modest income, but I never realized that until I was older. Why, you ask? Because they always appeared to have plenty of money (even when they probably didn’t). My mom was amazing at saving! She had a system that kept her on top of how much money we needed for expenses that, at the time, I wasn’t even aware existed. My dad worked while and my mom took care of the house. During that time, she made sure we could afford everything we needed. Their model helped make me into who I am today (after a little hiccup!).

About Me – My Background and Our Dilemma

Undoubtedly, you would think I would have followed in their footsteps from the beginning. As a college-educated person with a computer degree and no debt from college (thanks to my parent’s careful planning and budgeting); unfortunately, I didn’t! I thought surely I had everything figured out and believed my husband and I had plenty of money to do whatever we wanted.

My husband John worked as a computer scientist and traveled extensively for his job. I was a full-time teacher during the day and taught college courses in computer sciences, math, and financial literacy at night.  We were making good money! However, we overspent, used credit cards for things we couldn’t afford, and ended up in a financial mess. We found ourselves accumulating debt. Sound familiar?

Our Solution – Spend Less, Save Money, and Realize What Matters!

My parents saved us! Moreover, they guided us in understanding what we needed to do to fix things. I began by scrutinizing our expenses—seriously! We started tracking every dollar we spent. Wow, we wasted a lot of money! So our focus became understanding what truly matters. We set a goal to become debt-free, and you know what? Mission accomplished! We paid off all our debt and figured out how to retire early—me at 49 after 28 years of work. Since retiring, we’ve pursued our dream of moving to Florida, plus we started a profitable business. The best part? We get to spend our time doing what we love most: traveling and creating memories with our loved ones. See, I told you about my hiccup! But going through it made me into who I am today, I have no doubt! That should give you a pretty good idea about me and my journey.
